Bio (223 words)
Piano, guitar, ukulele, mandolin, Ableton Live, and a voice that is testament to twenty years of studying with the best, brightest, and most eclectic in the field. Once a music teacher, now a songwriter, always a teller of stories, Scott Test pulls his music from a wide variety of traditions and apologizes to no one. Everything is fair game - folk songs from the 1800s make their appearance alongside modern top 40 and singer-songwriter standards from the 70s. The weirder, the better. You’ll hear Billy Joel and James Taylor. You’ll hear Jonathan Coulton and Dave Van Ronk. You’ll hear a lot of stuff you don’t recognize, you’ll hear a lot of original music - and on a good night, you won’t be sure which is which.
“When people come up to me, and they can’t tell whether the song I just played is an original or a cover, I feel like I’ve done my job. That means I’m connecting with the music, and the audience is connecting with the music, and the show feels like it’s all of one piece. That’s what I’m going for.” Scott's latest project is "Say Less,” a collection of pop, rock, and folk songs that doesn’t even try to present a unified front. "Say Less" is available on iTunes, Amazon, Spotify, or wherever else you get your tunes. |
