For information on the New Year's Resolution Challenge that started all this, with a video of me singing "Bitch Better Have My Money" by Rihanna in four part harmony with a ukulele, CLICK HERE. The short version: Cover the #1 song in iTunes for every month of 2015.
People were screaming for me to put this song in my setlist since the album dropped. It's a great tune, and so is everything else Ed Sheeran has put his hand to in the past few years. The guy is a class act, he writes songs with good bones and I respect his art.
Having said that, there are some lyrical quirks here that I can't quite stand by. "Honey I will / Be loving you till / We're seventy" - at which point you're on your own, 'cause Ed Sheeran don't do old chicks? I'm not sure I follow the logic there, Ed.
A few colleagues of mine pointed out that "Thinking Out Loud" has nearly the exactly same chord progression as "Let's Get It On." I mashed them up a few times at a bar gig to great effect, so I figured I should share that with he world. It's too much fun not to.
Since this whole project is really an experiment to see how best to record video and get it up on the net, I figure I should document the whole process. This one was recorded directly into iMovie, using my laptop camera and audio from my Blue Yeti USB mic. I have to say I'm surprised the video quality isn't noticeably better than it would have been on my phone... That's a little disappointing. I might need to invest in a better camera if I'm going to do this stuff regularly.
